CLOSED-LOOP PROGRAM

We’re currently developing a circular end-of-life plan for every 4ocean product. Our aim is to eliminate waste at the end of our product lifecycle by taking back 4ocean products that our customers no longer use so they can be properly recycled or transformed into new products. Once you’re done with your 4ocean product, please reach out to our customer service team to receive a prepaid shipping label.

The 4ocean Closed-Loop Program is only available in the U.S. for now, but we plan to expand in the future.

OCEAN FACT

Prolonged heat stress from rising ocean temperatures associated with climate change can lead to mass coral bleaching events.

PRODUCT STORY

A global icon facing a global threat

Coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas, Australia

What concerns me most about the current and future state of the Great Barrier Reef is that we are running out of time. Climate change, in the last two years, has taken away half the coral cover on the world’s largest coral reef.

Great Barrier Reef Foundation

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the world’s seven natural wonders. It’s the largest living structure on Earth and covers an incredible 344,440 km2 — an area about the size of Italy. In fact, the Reef is so big it can actually be seen from space.

The Great Barrier Reef is also one of the most complex and biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. It supports nearly 9,000 aquatic species. The abundance of marine life makes the Reef a source of incredible fascination that draws about 2 million visitors from around the world every year. But this global icon is also facing a global threat.

The cumulative effects of climate change, poor water quality, coastal development, ocean plastic, overfishing, and extreme weather events are weakening the Reef’s resilience and ability to recover, which impacts the entire marine ecosystem that relies on it to survive.

Our $25,000 donation to Great Barrier Reef Foundation will help bring together the best minds and technologies in an effort to develop the knowledge and solutions we need to protect and restore the Great Barrier Reef for future generations.

Purchasing a 4ocean bracelet does more than clean the ocean. It also creates sustainable, living-wage jobs.

As soon as our beads, cords, and charms reach our main facility in Denpasar, Bali, a crew loads up our van and motorbikes to distribute these components to artisans in remote villages scattered across the island.

Women comprise 80 percent of this workforce. In Bali, women tend to assume the role of primary caretakers for their families, which means their job opportunities are limited. Because they’re able to hand assemble our bracelets in their homes and village centers, more women are able to join the workforce while continuing to care for their families.
