Protect each other. Protect the ocean.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, our crews are finding more and more single-use PPE in the ocean, so we’re introducing these 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton reusable face masks to help mitigate the problem.
Available in both adult and youth sizes and made from our 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, these 2-ply masks are ultra soft and super breathable. If you’ve bought any of our shirts, you already know how comfy this fabric is. Of course, every pack purchased funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines.
These face coverings are intended to be used as personal protective equipment for general, non-medical uses. Because this is a hygiene product, all face mask sales are final and non-refundable.

CLOSED-LOOP PROGRAM
We’re currently developing a circular end-of-life plan for every 4ocean product. Our aim is to eliminate waste at the end of our product lifecycle by taking back 4ocean products that our customers no longer use so they can be properly recycled or transformed into new products. Once you’re done with your 4ocean product, please reach out to our customer service team to receive a prepaid shipping label.
The 4ocean Closed-Loop Program is only available in the U.S. for now, but we plan to expand in the future.

PRODUCT STORY
Designed to be sustainable. Worn to make an impact.

Pandemic litter poses a significant ingestion and entanglement risk for marine life

4ocean crews show some of the single-use PPE collected during a single cleanup mission
Polyester, nylon, and other synthetic fibers are made from plastic and account for about 60% of all the clothing sold worldwide. Unlike your dryer, most washing machines don’t have filters to catch the tiny plastic fibers these materials shed. In fact, microfibers are so small that they can pass through filters in most water treatment centers and enter the ocean in wastewater discharges. If they are captured by a filter, they often enter the environment in another sewage byproduct: fertilizer.
Many marine animals ingest these plastic fibers and the chemical pollutants they absorb from the surrounding environment, which can leach into their tissues and cause significant health issues. This includes many of the fish consumed by people.
We chose to make our apparel products from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton because it’s a natural fiber that won’t contribute to the devastating impact of microplastic pollution in the ocean.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the highest standard for a finished organic textile because it doesn’t just regulate the cotton itself, but the social and environmental impact of the entire supply chain as well.
Our 100% organic cotton is grown in India’s cotton belt on farms that are free from GMO seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, and other toxic chemicals. Local, predominantly female farmers harvest, gin, and clean the cotton using no toxic chemicals.
Once the cotton is spun, knitted, dyed, and sewn, our designs are applied in a water-based printing process that’s free of heavy metals, formaldehyde, plastisol, or other toxic chemicals.
From farm to finished product, our apparel products are sustainably sourced and ethically manufactured so you look good and feel even better wearing them.
