Sukosari River Cleanup with Acucraft

Dika, 4ocean Jembrana Content Correspondent

On February 4, 2026, Team Riverboom 4ocean Java carried out a routine cleanup at the Sukosari River net installation with the support of our partner Acucraft. Located just 3.5 kilometers from the 4ocean Java base, the site can be reached in about ten minutes, yet the pollution captured there reflects a much larger upstream issue. Equipped with full protective gear and cleanup tools, the team mobilized quickly to prevent intercepted waste from continuing its journey downstream.

Upon arrival, the net was already filled with debris, dominated by plastic waste that had accumulated against the barrier. Without delay, the crew began removing the trapped material piece by piece, placing each load into prepared sacks. The steady rhythm of the work highlighted both the effectiveness of the net system and the persistent flow of pollution entering the river.

After several hours, the team had filled ten full sacks. Captain Hasan Izzudin directed the crew to transport the collected waste to the weighing area for documentation and evaluation. Once weighed, the total reached 186.5 pounds of plastic waste. These routine measurements help us monitor pollution levels in the Sukosari River and assess the broader environmental impact over time.

For the crew, consistency is what turns action into impact. As Moh. Febri Santoso shared, “The routine cleanups we carry out are a concrete action by Team 4ocean to keep waterways clean. We strongly believe that consistent efforts and strong teamwork will create a greater positive impact for the environment and for future generations.”

The cleanup proceeded without operational obstacles, allowing the team to focus entirely on restoring the water flow and ensuring the net was cleared for the next cycle. While this mission was routine, it reinforces a critical reality. Pollution moving through rivers does not stop on its own. Without interception and removal, it continues toward the ocean.

With the support of Acucraft, we remain committed to consistent intervention at key waterways like the Sukosari River. Every sack removed represents waste that will not reach coastal ecosystems. Through ongoing cleanup, proper waste handling, and environmental education, we are working to protect rivers today and safeguard oceans for generations to come.
