Two Teams, One Action at Pancur Beach Supported by GoodVibes Juice Co.

By early morning, two 4ocean Java beach teams were already preparing for departure, driven by a shared mission to protect one of Banyuwangi’s most beautiful coastlines. This cleanup, supported by GoodVibes Juice Co., brought both teams together at Pancur Beach, where natural beauty meets the harsh reality of plastic pollution. With sacks, ropes, and protective gear ready, the crews set out knowing the scale of work ahead.
Pancur Beach is known for its white sand, powerful waves, and sweeping ocean views. But during the west monsoon season, those same waves carry in massive amounts of debris from the open sea. When the team arrived, the contrast was immediate. What should have been a pristine shoreline was instead lined with plastic waste scattered across the sand.
After a quick briefing, the teams divided the coastline into sections to maximize their efforts. Without hesitation, they began combing the beach. Step by step, sack by sack, the shoreline slowly began to change. What started as scattered debris quickly turned into rows of filled sacks lining the sand.
The work was not easy. Much of the plastic had already broken down into smaller fragments, requiring patience and attention to detail. Some waste was buried beneath bamboo and driftwood, forcing the team to dig and pull debris free before it could be removed. Still, the crews pressed on, driven by a shared sense of purpose.
By the end of the cleanup, the results were undeniable. A total of 3,607.9 pounds of plastic waste was collected, filling 89 sacks. Each sack represented more than just removed trash. It was a step toward restoring balance to the ecosystem and protecting marine life from further harm.
For team member Bisma Wira Yuda, the experience was both eye-opening and urgent, “In this cleanup, we were surprised by the large amount of waste that washed up on Pancur Beach. This situation would not happen if everyone had the same awareness about proper waste management. Most of this waste begins with human habits of throwing garbage into waterways.”
That reality echoed across the entire operation. The debris found on Pancur Beach did not originate there. It traveled through rivers and oceans before returning to shore, a visible reminder that pollution is a connected, ongoing cycle.
Through this joint effort, both teams reinforced a simple truth. Protecting the ocean does not start at the shoreline. It starts upstream, in daily choices and community habits. Clean beaches are not maintained by a single effort, but by consistent action over time.
As the trucks carried the collected waste back to base, the shoreline stood quieter, cleaner, and closer to what it should be. The work is far from over, but every cleanup like this moves the needle forward.
Because in the end, every sack collected is more than just waste removed. It is a piece of the ocean restored.
