Surf the Web, Save the Ocean with Wave Browser
Henry Bliss, 4ocean Content Producer
In this episode of Can Business Save the Planet, 4ocean co-founder Alex Schulze sits down with Deniz, Ryan, and Kayla from Wave Browser to explore how a tech company is turning everyday internet use into a force for good. By combining a customizable, lightweight browser with a mission-driven business model, Wave is showing how technology can help drive ocean conservation.
Wave Browser’s impact goes beyond the screen. Through its partnership with 4ocean, the company is transforming digital habits into real-world change. Every search helps fund the removal of plastic and trash from the ocean, turning passive browsing into active participation. Their goal: scale cleanup efforts from hundreds of thousands to millions of pounds of plastic each year.
For Dennis, the mission is deeply personal. Growing up by the ocean and now raising three boys, he feels a responsibility to leave behind a healthier planet. “We don’t just want to make money,” he explains. “We want to leave a legacy,” Ryan adds that as the tech industry accelerates with AI and cloud computing, tying digital products to tangible impact is a way to balance resource use with environmental stewardship.
The partnership became real for the Wave team when they joined 4ocean’s captains and crews on a cleanup in South Florida. In just a few hours, they collected everything from plastic bags and bottles to microplastics and even car keys—an eye-opening experience that underscored the scale of the problem and the importance of acting now.
Kayla points out that even the name “Wave” made the partnership feel natural. After exploring other opportunities, 4ocean stood out for its authenticity, transparency, and consumer reach. “It just fit organically,” she says.
For Wave Browser, this is only the beginning. As the company grows, so will its impact, proving that even something as simple as browsing the web can help build a cleaner, more sustainable future.
