VeChain Backs 4ocean Java’s Rapid Satelit Beach Flood Cleanup
Dika, 4ocean Jembrana Content Correspondent
Supported by our partner VeChain, the 4ocean Java Beach Team mobilized quickly to conduct a cleanup at Satelit Beach. This coastline serves as a docking area for local fishermen and sits near a river, which makes it especially vulnerable to pollution when heavy rains trigger flooding. The location is only five kilometers from the 4ocean Java base, allowing the team to respond rapidly once conditions stabilized.
Following a period of strong rain and moderate flooding, the team prepared the tools needed to assess and clear the beach. When they arrived, the tide was rising, and large amounts of trash were scattered across the coastline. The team immediately began collecting waste before it could be pulled back into the sea. Hours of continuous work led to dozens of filled sacks, which were then transported to a designated weighing area. Every recorded weight serves as tangible proof of the impact made at Satelit Beach in a single day. Once weighing was complete, the sacks were loaded into the truck and taken back to the 4ocean Java base.
The beach was heavily polluted with flood-carried debris, including food packaging, foam, plastic bottles, used food containers, individual shoes, bags, pieces of fabric, dolls, and piles of organic waste. By the end of the cleanup, the team had collected thirty-seven sacks. Plastic waste accounted for 867 pounds across nineteen sacks. Mixed waste weighed 765.1 pounds across ten sacks. Non-plastic waste added another 558.1 pounds across eight sacks. In total, the team removed 2,190.2 pounds of waste from Satelit Beach.
These findings highlight how severe pollution becomes when rain and river flow combine. They also reinforce the need for continuous cleanup efforts supported by strong community awareness.
Captain Oval Bayu Murti shared his reflections on the day’s work. “Our 4ocean Java Beach Team will continue to clean beaches impacted by plastic pollution and create a strong positive impact on the environment. This mission is vital to protect life from the real threats that exist, from rivers to the open ocean.”
The beach was covered in thick layers of organic material mixed with plastic waste, slowing down the sorting process and requiring additional time and effort from the team. The rising tide created further urgency, as there was a real risk that the collected trash would be washed back into the ocean. The crew worked quickly and stayed coordinated to ensure that as much waste as possible was removed before water levels increased.

Waste pollution remains a serious and growing environmental challenge. When floods hit, river waste flows directly to the ocean, where waves and tides push it back onto the coastline. This cycle creates a wide-reaching impact that affects everything from marine ecosystems to human health and local economies. Plastic waste is particularly harmful because it does not biodegrade. Once ingested by marine animals, it enters the food chain and eventually returns to humans.
The 4ocean Java Team continues to take action from the land, through the rivers, and out to the sea. With support from partners like VeChain, these efforts become even more impactful and help protect the environment for communities today and for future generations.
