4ocean Biodegradable Sponges are a once-daily compostable sponge made from 100% natural plant cellulose. They’re a convenient and ocean-friendly alternative to the average kitchen sponge that’s made from plastic (specifically polyester or polyurethane), known to harbor harmful bacteria, and never biodegrades. 

Designed to take up minimal storage space, dry sponges are super thin and swell to a useful thickness when wet. As soon as you’re done using one of our eco-friendly sponges, you can either throw it away or compost it right in your own backyard! Either way, cellulose degradation occurs in about 2-6 weeks.

Please note that our sponges ship in a glassine bag, which is a very thin, smooth, and glossy paper made from wood pulp; it is NOT plastic. Glassine is air, water, and grease resistant, biodegradable, and can also be recycled.
