The story of 4ocean Plastic™

4ocean is so committed to ending the ocean plastic crisis that we followed a plastic bottle 700 miles across the ocean to Haiti just to find out how it was getting in the ocean and what we could do to stop it. It’s been two years since then and 4ocean Haiti is now a fully operational cleanup division that’s recovering millions of pounds of plastic from the ocean.

Since the very beginning, it’s been our goal to develop a closed-loop manufacturing process that uses the materials our professional cleanup crews recover from the ocean to develop new and innovative products that fund our global ocean cleanup operation and support a growing movement to end the world’s reliance on single-use plastic.

That’s why we’re stoked to introduce the first-ever product made from certified 4ocean Plastic™ — the 4ocean Signature iPhone Case. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Made with certified
4ocean Plastic™

Our two-layer case features a hard outer shell made from certified 100% recycled HDPE 4ocean Plastic™. HDPE is a type of plastic that our crews commonly find during our daily cleanups and is widely accepted in curbside recycling programs.

From recovery through manufacturing, the independent, third-party organization GreenCircle Certified has verified that all of the plastic used to make this durable outer shell was recovered directly from the ocean by professional 4ocean cleanup crews.

Bio-compostable and impact absorbent

The inner shell case is made from bio-compostable PBAT rubber. Not only does this eco-friendly material provide incredible drop protection, it can also be composted the next time you upgrade your phone. That way, no trash makes it back into the ocean.

If you’re unable to compost at home, you can take advantage of our Closed-Loop Program and return the entire Signature iPhone Case to 4ocean. We’ll recycle what we can to make new products and ensure the rest is disposed of properly.

One Pound

Every 4ocean product you purchase funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines. And every pound you pull funds our global ocean cleanup operation and supports a growing movement to end the world’s reliance on single-use plastic.

4ocean Plastic™ products also reduce demand for virgin plastic and act as conversation pieces that help raise awareness about plastic pollution and the actions we can take to prevent plastic from polluting the ocean and our planet.

Say hello to the masterminds behind 4ocean Plastic™ products

Desiree Hunter
Director of Product Strategy

"Can you imagine how contaminated and degraded plastic is after it’s been floating in the ocean for years? Now try making a product from that material. We just made our first part with 100% 4ocean Plastic and we’re about to make a lot more!"

Mehdi Ghafghazi
Materials R&D Manager

"Environmental exposure changes plastic’s molecular structure. We have treated our ocean plastic using recent science and technologies to create a high-quality recycled plastic that can be used to replace virgin plastic when manufacturing new products like the Signature iPhone Case."

Sebastien Lambert
4ocean Haiti Head Coordinator

"It’s incredible to see how much the 4ocean Haiti crew has grown since 2018. Our captains and crews are recovering thousands of pounds of trash every single day and it’s so rewarding to see all that plastic being given a second chance at life. Products like this make it possible for us to do the hard work of cleaning the ocean each and every day."

Brian Douglas
Director of Strategic Sourcing

"Recycling ocean plastic into products like the Signature iPhone Case is closed-loop manufacturing at its finest. I can’t wait for our fans and followers to see what else we have in store for 4ocean Plastic!"
