PRODUCT STORY
The cost of our convenience is their disappearance

Polar bear on pack ice, Svalbard, Norway

Polar bear attempts to eat from discarded plastic jar, Manitoba, Canada
The sea ice habitats polar bears need to survive are disappearing as the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere increases. Without sea ice, polar bears are unable to hunt for food, which is an enormous threat to their survival.
Plastic is among the most significant and rapidly growing sources of industrial greenhouse gas emissions, which are emitted during every stage of its lifecycle.
If we’re going to save polar bears, we must protect their sea ice habitats by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including those associated with plastic.
Hand assembled by an artisan in Bali, Indonesia
Purchasing a 4ocean bracelet does more than clean the ocean. It also creates sustainable, living-wage jobs.
As soon as our beads, cords, and charms reach our main facility in Denpasar, Bali, a crew loads up our van and motorbikes to distribute these components to artisans in remote villages scattered across the island.
Women comprise 80 percent of this workforce. In Bali, women tend to assume the role of primary caretakers for their families, which means their job opportunities are limited. Because they’re able to hand assemble our bracelets in their homes and village centers, more women are able to join the workforce while continuing to care for their families.
